Terms and Conditions

Art. 1 The Cluj International Masterclasses 2026
The Notes&Ties Cultural Association (Asociația Culturală ”Notes&Ties”) and The National Academy of Music “Gheorghe Dima” (Academia Națională de Muzică ”Gheorghe Dima”) are hosting/organizing masterclasses  for Flute and Clarinet entitled Cluj International Masterclasses 2026 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, between 17-24 July, at The National Academy of Music “Gheorghe Dima” (Str. Bucium, nr. 2, Cluj-Napoca).

Art. 2 Registration
The masterclasses are open to flute and clarinet players worldwide.

Submitted applications must include the following documents:

• application form – download
• a copy of the confirmation of payment of fee according to Art.3

All documents mentioned at Art. 2 should be sent by e-mail to: cluj.masterclasses@gmail.com by May 18th 2026.

Art. 3 Fee

Participation fee – 350 EUR* (net, after bank fees) 

Deadline: May 18th 2026

* The participation fee includes masterclasses, accompaniment classes, complementary courses and free access to all concerts.

Please include the participant’s name and the following phrase:
“application fee for the Cluj International Masterclasses 2026” in the transfer.

There will be no refunds due to candidates’ cancellations.

Art. 4 Participants

• The deadline for applications is May 18th 2026 (within the limits of available places)
• The number of participants in the masterclasses is limited to a total of 35 flutists and 35 clarinetists
• Occupancy of seats is done in the order of registration and requires a confirmation from the organizers

Art. 5 Scholarships for Romanian flutists and clarinetists

• The organizers offer 10 scholarships for Romanian citizens (5 flutists and 5 clarinettists).
• Scholarships include full coverage of participation fee (they do not cover for travel or accommodation expenses)
• Romanian participants who wish to obtain a scholarship must send the following documents.

All documents should be sent by e-mail to: cluj.masterclasses@gmail.com by 16 March 2026:

• application form – download
• a letter of recommendation from a specialized teacher
• a video recording of a performance of the candidate’s choice (max. 10 minutes)

Results for the selection will be announced on the masterclasses’ web page on the 23rd of March 2026.

Art. 6 Repertoire

Cluj International Flute and Clarinet Masterclasses 2026 is designed to prepare young flutists and clarinetists for the Cluj International Music Competition 2027 but also for public performances and orchestra auditions.

Art. 7 Official Registration of the participants

Participants will register for the masterclasses on July 17th, between 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Info Point in Cluj-Napoca (2 Bucium street).

Upon registration, candidates will personally confirm their identity using their ID or passport.

Art. 8 Teachers

The teachers will be prominent musicians from around the world.

Art. 9 Public performances
Participants have the possibility to perform in the students’ concerts, on the 23rd and 24th of July.

By entering the masterclasses the participants agree that the organisers reserve the right to photograph and record (audio & video) courses and concerts. These may be broadcast on radio, TV, or online without further permission given by the participants or their accompanists, who are not entitled to claim any remuneration for these recordings and broadcasts. Some selected participants will perform in the Gala Concert without a fee.

Art. 10 Diplomas
All participants will receive participation diplomas.

Art. 11 Travel and Accommodation

Travel, accommodation and all other expenses will be supported by the participants.  

The National Academy of Music ”Gheorghe Dima” offers places in double rooms and quadruple rooms in the student campus for the price of – 200 EUR /person/the entire period (July 16/17th – July 24/25th).

Art. 12 Visas
Participants requiring a visa to take part in the Cluj International Masterclasses 2026 are requested to organise this themselves. If a letter of invitation is required for visa purposes, participants may request this from the organizing team.

Art. 13 Insurance
The organizers of Cluj International Masterclasses 2026 are not responsible for the costs of participants’ illness and/or accidents during their stay in Cluj-Napoca.
The Cluj International Masterclasses 2026 is not responsible for the loss/theft of personal possessions/musical instruments from the area of the masterclass.

Art. 14 Personal data

By registering for the masterclasses, participants agree to the storage and use of their personal data by the Notes&Ties Cultural Association (Asociația Culturală ”Notes&Ties”) for the purpose of organising the masterclasses.

ART. 16 Final provisions

In well justified situations, the organizer reserves the right to make changes to any aspect of the masterclasses.

Any integral or partial change to the place or time of the event will be announced in due time. This includes the possibility of moving the masterclasses online in case of force majeure, the enforcement of public events restrictions, restrictions on the movement of persons, or any other such measures enforced by government authorities for reasons of public health and safety.
